Growing up in Quito, Ecuador mixed media artist Rocio Llusca became inspired by fellow Ecuadorian artists Oswaldo Guayasamín and Eduardo Kigman. These master painters created beautiful interpretations of Ecuadorian society through precise details and capturing facial expressions which conveyed the inner struggle within the country. Moreover, their influence and legacy has left a lasting impression on Llusca’s work. In her pieces, Llusca uses vivid hues, a unique expressionist style and recycled materials to capture her audience’s attention. After relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2003, Llusca has become involved in the art scene within the city and has been a part of various opportunities presented by ArtPop and the Arts and Science Council. Using the city of Charlotte, her family and her past experiences as the backdrop and inspiration for her pieces Llusca is making a household name for herself in North Carolina.
