Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo is a visual artist in Santa Clara, California, born in Sonoma County. Greatly influenced by her indigenous Mexican ancestry, she creates her art using many meaningful, bright colors and textures. Her artwork expresses her interest in Mesoamerican culture, specifically Mexika/Aztec culture and codices. She found her first inspiration from traditional Mexica/Aztec dancers. She now has a few different series of work, which consist of many different media, such as acrylic and ink, colored pencils, and oil paints. She graduated from San José State University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Pictorial Arts with a concentration in Painting and Drawing, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in French. Montelongo highlights and encourages the idea of a larger reality beyond the boundaries in which we view the world. She has exhibited her work in California, Washington, New Jersey, and New York.
