Erica Garza
Erica Garza was born in Los Angeles, CA. Even though she does not speak Spanish, she considers herself to be a Mexican-American and sometimes Latina. When Erica was young, she realized that writing was her passion and decided to make it her only career path. For her undergraduate studies, she attended Pasadena City Community College, where she had the opportunity to study abroad in Italy to then conclude her undergraduate studies with a B.A. in English at UCLA. Later, she earned her MFA in Creative Nonfiction Writing from Columbia University. Some of Erica’s essays have been published in numerous literary journals and magazines such as Salon, The Manifest-Station, Substance, and HelloGiggle. Some of her published stories have been based on her time in Italy. Erica is known for her bold writing about women’s bodies and desires that not many authors venture to write about. She also encourages women to free themselves from disruptive habits and learn how to live stress-free lives. Some of her works includes “An Ode to the Gap Between my Breasts” and “The Good News.” She loves to travel and has been to Florence, London, Berlin, Paris, Barcelona, Bali, Koh Samui, Chennai and the island of Maui. Traveling, people, art, and love are the main sources of her inspiration. She is currently a staff writer for the feminist magazine Luna Luna while working on her first book called “Hairywoman” that will be coming out soon.
