Salvador Hernández

Born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Salvador Hernández is an inspirational writer. Hernández says he writes stories that need to be heard, and he hopes to provide a sense of hope for his readers. Hernández interacts and engages with many different people daily and the stories of these people are his inspiration to write.

Hernández was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. Hernández’s father is from Guanajuato, Mexico and his mother’s family comes from Michoacán, Mexico and Cuba. However, his mother was also born in Omaha, Nebraska. Hernández speaks both English and Spanish but claims his favorite language is Spanglish. Hernández currently lives in Omaha, Nebraska, but his education and careers have taken him away from his hometown.

Hernández attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he studied International Business with minors in Economics and Spanish. During his time at UNL he took a Chicano Literature class which is where his interest in story telling began. While in San José, California, he took a creative nonfiction course at a local community college, but had to drop the class halfway through. Currently, he is getting his master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Even though Hernández has not had extensive education in writing, he believes his writing education is provided by his life experiences. Hernández is proof that one doesn’t need an education in writing when the message is coming from the heart.
