Raul González was born in Houston, Texas. His mother is from Houston while his father is from Mexico. Neither finished high school. He is the only son in a family with three daughters. González identifies as both American and Mexican-American. González received his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the University of Houston with a focus in Painting. He then received his Master’s in Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Texas in San Antonio. He is a full time artist and a father. He not only paints but has also done art work for Lee Jeans, illustration work for writers, and design work for Google. He finds inspiration in his family, music, artists who have contributed to society, social issues and more. Gonzalez has had his work shown in many exhibits and museums; however, he hopes to one day be in the Museum of Modern Art. He currently has one daughter named June who he works to expose to many different things and takes her to many art exhibits. He considers his role as a father his greatest success.
