Francisco Gonzalez was born in Chiapas, México and moved to Charlotte in 1995. He discovered art at the Blue Pony Gallery and Press where he enrolled in classes to learn about printmaking. Francisco eventually began exhibiting his work in the gallery of Blue Pony for eight years until its closing. Francisco’s work is characterized by its expressionist style and abstract designs inspired by nature, memories and his experience as a Latin American immigrant and artist. He has participated in at least twelve juried exhibitions, ten solo exhibitions, and sixty three selected group exhibitions. Additionally, he has several permanent collections displayed at various locations in North Carolina. These collections can be found at Queens University of Charlotte, The Tower Club and US LEC in Charlotte, at The Carolina Brush Company in Winston-Salem, and at The Chaney Clinic in Asheville. He has won awards from Associated Artist of Winston Salem, The Museum of York County in Rock Hill and the Charlotte Art League in Charlotte.
