Luis Ardila studied Architecture at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and Universidad Pontificia Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. His work has been included in exhibitions in the United States, France, Germany, Belgium, Venezuela, and his native Colombia where he has received numerous awards. Ardila has also taught Art History and Studio Art in Colombia and the United States. His work has an expressionist-symbolist style rooted in the influence of Latin American painters of the 60's like Rufino Tamayo, Wifredo Lam and Alejandro Obregón as well as in the Medieval European iconography.
