Teresa Dovalpage was born in La Habana, Cuba in 1966. As well as Cuban heritage, Teresa Dovalpage is also of Spanish and Italian descent. She has a Ph.D in Latin American Literature from the University of New Mexico and currently lives in Taos, New Mexico. In Taos, she works as a Spanish instructor at UNM Taos, but also works for the local newspaper, Taos News. There, she writes two weekly columns, one in Spanish for El Crepúsculo and the other in English about business. At fifteen years old, Teresa Dovalpage began writing. She has written many works, of which eight have been published. Her fluency with both Spanish and English can been seen in her works, where she often uses both languages and at times combines them. Teresa Dovalpage lets her mind do the writing and believes the reader is the one who interprets the meaning or morals behind her literature. As a multicultural writer, she reaches a diverse public and invites both Americans and Cubans to step into a world of wonder and complexity.
